Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Velvet Arcade ("we", "us", "our") collects when you visit velvetarcadegames.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language, because privacy policies only protect people who can understand them.
1. The Short Version
We collect very little. The Site has no payment system, sells nothing, does not require an account to play, and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. Member accounts are stored in your own browser rather than on our servers. Beyond that, the only personal information we receive is what you choose to send us through the contact form.
2. Information Stored in Your Browser
When you create a Velvet Arcade account, your display name, email address and a salted cryptographic hash of your password are saved in your browser's local storage — on your device, not on our servers. Your password itself is never stored anywhere in readable form. This information stays on your device until you clear your browser data. Practical consequences: your account exists only in the browser where you created it, and we cannot see, access, recover or delete it from our side — clearing your browser storage removes it completely.
We also use local storage for small preferences, such as whether you have dismissed the cookie notice and whether you are logged in on that device.
3. Information You Send Us
If you use the contact form or email support@velvetarcadegames.com, we receive your name, email address and the contents of your message. We use this information solely to respond to you, and we keep correspondence only as long as needed to resolve your query and maintain a reasonable support history.
4. Cookies and Similar Storage
The Site itself sets no advertising or analytics cookies and runs no visitor-tracking scripts. We use browser local storage only for functional purposes: remembering your choice on the cookie notice, and holding your account and login state if you create one (see section 2). Your choice on the cookie notice, whether accept or decline, never blocks any part of the Site from working. Our web host may keep standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and operations, as virtually all websites do.
5. Third-Party Game Content
Games in our library stream from the servers of their respective studios inside an embedded frame. When you launch a game, your browser connects directly to the studio's servers, which will receive your IP address and standard technical information, as with any website you visit. Those providers operate under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
6. What We Don't Do
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We do not run third-party advertising networks on the Site. We do not build marketing profiles of individual visitors. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 21 — the Site is strictly for adults, and if we learn that a minor has submitted personal information we will delete it.
7. Legal Bases
Where data-protection law such as the GDPR applies, we process personal information on the basis of legitimate interests (operating and securing the Site) and performance of our commitments to you (responding when you contact us).
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Because member accounts live in your own browser, most account data is already under your direct control: logging out and clearing site data for velvetarcadegames.com removes it entirely. For anything you have sent us directly, email support@velvetarcadegames.com and we will act on your request within 30 days.
9. Security
The Site is served over HTTPS, passwords are hashed with a per-account salt before being stored, and we minimise the data we hold in the first place — the most effective security measure there is.
10. Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be flagged with a notice on the Site. Continued use of the Site after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
